About
Environmental Psychology Open (EPO) is a scientific online journal covering the entire spectrum of environmental psychology. It aims to make psychological knowledge visible and usable for sustainable improvements of the living environment. Inter- and transdisciplinary contributions and case studies are welcome, as are contributions by student researchers. Contributions can be submitted in German or English and will be published online continuously.
EPO is open in several ways: with Diamond Open Access, with open peer review, and with open science formats such as registered reports.
EPO is a Peer Community In (PCI)-friendly journal, accepting preprints recommended within the PCI system without further peer review, given the manuscript falls within the topical scope of EPO.
EPO has evolved from the more than 25-year history of the Zeitschrift Umweltpsychologie. Older issues of Umweltpsychologie (until 2023) can be obtained from the publisher Pabst. PDF files of single papers can be ordered via Genios. All contributions published before issue 2/2000 and the introductions to all issues are available for free. Many university libraries offer free access to all journal content at wiso.
EPO is endorsed by the Environmental Psychology section (Fachgruppe Umweltpsychologie) of the German Psychological Society (DGPs) and funded through the collective Open Access funding initiative KOALA.
